This Great Love

This story was originally published in Day One, a weekly literary journal dedicated to short fiction and poetry from emerging writers.

Prudence has spent most of her life hiding inside her apartment, protected by the fragile barrier that it provides against the outside world. But when she is woken early one morning by an ambulance’s siren, she happens to exchange the briefest of glances with a man passing by her window. To her, this is a message from the universe and a shifting of destiny, and the one-sided love affair quickly spirals into obsession.

Cuthbert Wilson is not even aware of this exchange, and, preoccupied with his own lonely, predictable existence, does not recognize that this moment will link his luck with his doom. An inspired tale of twisted romance, This Great Love explores fate, coincidence, and the unfathomable routes that love can take.

This story is available on Kindle, as well as the Kindle App for Android, iPhone, or iPad.
